NITHAM ORU VAANAM

An open letter to the characters of Nitham Our Vaanam.

I wrote this letter right after the very first day show of this movie.

A story which speaks a MILLION lessons, reminds me of THOUSAND precious reasons to live life from FOUR characters within TWO beautiful stories to live ONE precious present life given to you.

Dear Meenakshi, you taught me to be strong no matter what life throws at you. The way you carried your life after the loss of your very loved ones, pain, struggles and suffering has all hit the very bottom of my heart.  

Dear Veera, just like what you have told to Meenakshi, it was as if being told to me. You reminded me to always do what I love the most and never ever compromise anything or anyone when comes to my passion and dream.

Dear Mathi, you were the lite. Your energy, sense of humour and cuteness just kept going. You taught me to cherish the life which I am blessed with even after I know I might not be alive the next day. Cheat your death by living and cherishing this life till the very last breath that you would breathe.  

Dear Prabha, no matter how much I tried to hold on to my tears, you just made me have my emotional breakdown at that moment. The way you have accepted your wife’s reality and the life as it is has just hit me that hard. That no matter what it is, no matter how much pain it could cost, if you never accept it, it will continue to hurt like hell. You taught me to accept the pain, heal and move forward.

Dear Shuba, you are that wonderer with the guts to roam around. Like you don’t just sit there! Go travel and learn life in this way. And in such, you are being guided to the life that are meant for you.  

And,

Dearest Arjun,

It’s not only you that learned your life lesson or got the lifeline message from the two stories, but to everyone who are most likely to be in your shoe. And I am one of it.

Arjun might be imperfectly perfect in his point of view, he might be doing all right in his life, he was loyal to every single relationship he has got, and everything goes on smoothly. But you never know when life will be having turning points and redirections until you are forced to detach from everything, accept it as it is, heal and move forward.

Ultimately, to live a happy life is the only reason we are being sent here right! And for that, we are going through everything it has to take for the core purpose to be happy.  

Being happy and being wholeheartedly happy are two different things I learned. If my wisdom could speaks, I will definitely want to be wholeheartedly happy.

Yet they smiled! Isn’t that cruel?!

The person right next to you smiles to you but little did you know that he/she is in pain.
The smile on their lips shield it well till no one able to realise or notice the slightest pain they’re suffering from.
He/she is broken. They are being stuck. They have no strength to speak up and to share what’s going on in their life. They don’t even know the cause of their pain. They don’t know how to deal with this emotion of pain.
The silence has reached the peak till they could hear the slightest sound in a room they’re in.
It’s so suffocating as they are breathless at some point.
It’s so exhausting as they are mentally and physically tired deep down.
Yet they smiled!
Isn’t that cruel?!

To the one who is struggling yet smiling, please take care of yourself!

Have a sit,
Take a deep breath.
I know you are tired
But I want you to
Ask to yourself
How are you lately?
Have you got some sleep?
Did you drink water?
Have you eaten?
Ask if anyone in your life is being toxic to you all this while or if you’re the one being toxic to them in anyway.

I know about the good heart of yours
And I also know the depth of it.
But you need to take care of yourself too.
Make sure you have a good sleep. Nothing is worth than that.

Do things that warm your heart like getting your favourite journal, painting, spending time with your pets or watching a movie or a match or eating an extra scoop of ice cream.

Do things that you’ve always dreamt of doing even if you’re bad at it.
All you need is twenty seconds of insane courage and something remarkable would come out of it.

Listen to your favourite songs including sad songs too. Cry if that helps. And cry if your heart is way too heavy. I know it won’t solve your worries but it would help you to feel lighter. Moreover, it’s the feeling that you’re expressing and embracing.

Healing takes time.
It’s as messy and raw it can get.
You’ll fall down and get up to fall again but don’t ever quit.
Take a hot shower and drink water.

Surround yourself with warmth, books, food and people who feel like sunshine.
If you think that you should spend time by yourself, then go on in your way.
If you think that you should stay detached with certain people including the closed ones, then go ahead.

Listen,
Your mental health is very important. Please take care of it and I meant it.
Practice calmness.
One breath at a time.
It’s okay to feel lost and stuck. This is what life about.
Finding things along the way even though it feels bleak.

No matter who you are and what you’re doing, know that I’m proud of you.
You don’t always have to achieve something great to be proud of yourself.
You can be proud of yourself for the little things like waking up and getting out of bed, walking more steps than yesterday or taking a step out of your comfort zone.
And even if you didn’t, it’s okay.
There are lot more days ahead.

Always have faith on the things you believed the most.
It will never let you down.

Just remember your worth.
That is going to be the thing that either makes you or breaks you.
Please go on the day with a light heart.
And if it’s night time, let tomorrow shine brighter than yesterday.

To the one who is struggling yet smiling, please take care of yourself.

And
